Benefits of avocado for cystic fibrosis

With cystic fibrosis, in addition to problems with the bronchopulmonary system, the digestive organs suffer, namely: the pancreas, liver, gall bladder and intestines. Pancreatic dysfunction leads to thickening of the secretion and blockage of excretory ducts, decrease in the amount of bicarbonates, and decrease in the activity of pancreatic lipase. There is a violation of digestion processes and the function of the intestines, which leads to the non-assimilation of fats in the body.

Therefore, the diet of patients with cystic fibrosis should be focused on more fat consumption and more caloric nutrition. There are excellent high-calorie mixtures from several manufacturers for the enrichment of food calories and vitamin complexes that help replace the lack of vitamins and balance the vitamin-mineral complex. But there is a product in nature that is very useful and in its composition is just right for the nutrition of patients with cystic fibrosis – it is AVOCADO.

This beautiful fruit of a tropical tree of the Laurel family, genus Perseus has an oily flesh with a specific taste. A fruit with a large stone and dark green skin. Its calorie content is 240 kcal per 100 g. The composition contains many valuable substances – sodium, folic acid, potassium, calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, selenium, zinc, and especially important for cystic fibrosis patients – vitamin K content You can combine the menu: for breakfast – half an avocado plus cheese, or a sandwich with balik and greens, for lunch – half an avocado, eggs and salad with lemon dressing, for dinner – avocado, buckwheat porridge with boiled beef. Avocado can be included in the menu of patients with cystic fibrosis who have diabetes, because the pulp does not contain harmful fats and sugar.

Please note that only ripe avocados should be eaten raw, the pulp of which is not a pronounced green color, but more yellow-green. The fruit is cut into pieces, removing the skin and pulling out the stone. Be sure to include this useful and high-calorie fruit in the menu of patients with cystic fibrosis, especially since the only contraindications are individual intolerance, citrus allergies and severe liver diseases.
